Wilhem Walz at the age of 18 immigrated on the Pennsylvaina. He sailed on April 11, 1909 sailing from Cruxhaven, Germany to New York. He had worked as a baker. Joseph traveled over by himself as far as I can see, his parents were Jacob and Katherine Walz and had 2 other brothers and a sister. His brothers, Joseph (who married Marie Steckbauer) and Jacob also came to America

The S.S. Pennsylvania was in service 1896 - 1917. It was also know as the Nansemond(1917). Ship Discription: Built by Harland & WOlff, Ltd., Belfast, Ireland. Tonnage: 13,333. Dimesions: 559' X62". Twin-screw, 13 1/2 knots. Quadruple expansion engines. Four masts and one funnel. History: Passengers: 160 first, 180 second, 2,200 third. Service: Hamburg-New York. Renamed: Nansemond (1917) United States troopship. Scrapped in 1924. Sister ships: Graf Waldersee, Paricia and Pertoria. Note: Large passenger-cargo type steamships, which could carry more cargo on one voyage than the entire Hamburg-American Line sailing fleet of the 1850's in a whole year.
